Bio-Zentrum Halle as part of Weinberg Campus Technology Park
The Weinberg Campus Technology Park is the innovation location for the biomedical, life sciences, and material sciences industry in the region. With 134 hectares, it is the largest in Central Germany. Around 300 start-ups have found excellent conditions and more than 100 companies and institutes employing approx. 6,000 people are located here. The Bio-Zentrum Halle forms an important part of the infrastructure of the Weinberg Campus Technology Park at the interface between research institutes and companies.
Biochemists, biotechnologists, physicians, materials scientists, pharmacists, agronomists, and nutritionists from the most important non-university research institutions – Fraunhofer-Institutes, Helmholtz-Center, Leibniz Institutes, and Max Planck Institute – and the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg are all working side by side. Scientific ideas become innovations and are turned into spin-offs that attract international corporations such as BioNTech, WACKER or Denka.
The importance of the Weinberg Campus is constantly increasing with new investments and the further development of research and production capacities. The Ministry of Economics as well as the Investment and Marketing Corporation of Saxony-Anhalt (IMG) awarded the Weinberg Campus Technology Park as one of the most promising future locations in Saxony-Anhalt. Additionally, the Life Science Cluster Saxony-Anhalt and the state-wide accelerator program with focus on health technology and green economy are coordinated here.
